French night train (Intercités de nuit)

For the convenience of the passengers who cannot travel by train during the day, SNCF offers intercity night (Intercites de nuit) trains. These overnight trains operate on the below routes:

  • Paris – Gap – Briançon
  • Paris – Toulouse – Rodez – Latour-de-Carol – Perpignan – Cerbère**
  • Paris – Marseille – Toulon – Draguignan – Saint-Raphaël – Cannes – Antibes – Nice
  • Paris – Lourdes – Tarbes

These night trains do not offer single, double and triple sleeping car accommodation options. Instead, the Intercités de Nuit services offer the following:

  • 1st Class couchettes (cabins with 6 sleeping berths)
  • 2nd Class couchettes (cabins with 4 sleeping berths)
  • Reclining seats with leg rest, suitable for overnight seated travel

Those passengers that may be travelling with family or friends and don't feel comfortable sharing the cabin with strangers and wish to have the couchette cabins to themselves, privatization option is available depending on availability, by paying a slightly higher price.

**Due to a landslide between Foix and Ax-les-Thermes on 18 February 2026, the night Intercités service between Paris and Latour-de-Carol remains suspended until further notice. Repair work is expected to take several months, and passengers are advised to use alternative connecting routes.
