Timetables in the United Kingdom may be revised following traffic disruptions. In case of disruptions, fewer services are operating and some routes are cancelled completely. You can find some details about those cancellations below.
Industrial Action to affect CrossCountry services from Saturday 23 August until Monday 25 August

Description
Industrial Action by the RMT union on Saturday 23 August and Monday 25 August will mean a significant reduction in CrossCountry services operating on those days.
In addition, CrossCountry anticipate that there will be train cancellations on Sunday 24 August, with services that do run expected to be extremely busy.
Please continue to check your journey before travelling.

If your client's CrossCountry train is cancelled, rescheduled, or significantly disrupted after you’ve bought your ticket and they decide not to travel, they are entitled to a full refund where no admin fee will be charged. This applies for both tickets if they hold two single tickets for a return journey e.g. Advance fares. You can contact us here.

CrossCountry will still operate both booked and un-booked Passenger Assistance services on the affected days for passengers that require this.

Disruption between Par and Newquay expected until the end of the day on 16th August 2025

Description
A fault with the signalling system between Par and Newquay means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled.
This is expected until the end of the day.
Passenger advice:
Rail replacement transport has been requested. More details will be provided once this is confirmed.
Please check the stations Onward Travel Information poster and wait for replacement road transport at the designated stop.
Rails replacement road transport may run later than the advertised train times owing to the additional time taken by road between stations and the time required for loading and unloading at each stop.

Storm Floris may impact your journey today: check before you travel
The Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for today. Storm Floris will bring strong winds, potentially in excess of 70mph, and heavy rain to some parts of northern England, northern Wales and Scotland.
Stormy weather can severely impact the railway, with journey delays and cancellations.
- Heavy rain can overwhelm drainage systems, flooding tracks and slowing down trains
- High winds can mean trains have to run at slower speeds than usual to operate safely
- Strong winds can bring down trees and other debris that blocks tracks and damages power lines
It is likely that speed restrictions and alterations will be in place, and your journey may take longer.
Some train operators have issued a do not travel message for services today affecting services in the north of England and Scotland.

Description
Lines have reopened following the emergency services dealing with an incident between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston. Trains running between these stations may still to be cancelled, delayed by up to 120 minutes or revised.

Description:
Lines have reopened following a failure of the electricity supply between Edinburgh and Prestonpans earlier this morning.
Trains between Edinburgh and Dunbar / Newcastle are returning to normal but may still be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 60 minutes as a result.
Major disruption is expected until 12:00.

Failure of the electricity supply, linked to damage to the overhead line equipment, was disrupting services running from Edinburgh towards Dunbar and Berwick-upon-Tweed. Network Rail staff have rectified the issue and all lines have reopened.

Major disruption at London Waterloo today, 21th July 2025.
A fault with the signalling system at London Waterloo means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running to and from the station may be severely delayed or cancelled.
Major disruption is expected until 10:30.
Passengers are informed of a signalling problem at London Waterloo. This means that trains are unable to use platforms 1 to 14.

Damage to the overhead electric wires between Lockerbie and Carstairs means that all lines are blocked. Trains are unable to run between Carlisle and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh and will be cancelled or revised.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:
Avanti West Coast are advising customers NOT TO TRAVEL on the following routes:
- North of Carlisle
- Southbound from Edinburgh / Glasgow Central
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
If you no longer wish to travel because your train is delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.
Advice for TransPennine Express customers:
TransPennine Express are strongly advising customers NOT TO TRAVEL north of Carlisle. There are no trains running between Carlisle and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh in both directions and no replacement buses.
Trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central will run only between Liverpool Lime Street and Carlisle.
Trains between Manchester Airport and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh will run only between Manchester Airport and Carlisle.
You can use your ticket on board the following services at no extra cost:
- Avanti West Coast services between Carlisle and Preston (and between Scotland and Preston in both directions once the line reopens)
- ScotRail services between Glasgow stations and Edinburgh

UK: Industrial action to affect CrossCountry services from Monday 9 June until Saturday 25 October (Updated on 07th June)
Industrial action has been announced by the RMT Union which will affect CrossCountry services from Monday 9 June until Saturday 25 October. Short-notice changes are expected to their timetable.
CrossCountry aim to run as many services as possible. However, restrictions on when RMT members can work will mean more cancellations than usual over this period.

No Southern trains will run between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.
Your client's should use alternative London Overground trains between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction. Or alternatively, Southern trains between Clapham Junction and London Victoria, London Underground between London Victoria and London Euston and London Northwestern Railway or London Overground trains between London Euston and Watford Junction.
National Rail ticket acceptance will be in place at no extra cost between:

Major engineering work during the Early May bank holiday weekend. (Updated on 3rd May 2025)

Description
There are lots of planned essential engineering works and upgrades taking place during the Early May bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 3 May to Monday 5 May, as Network Rail works to improve the railway. Network Rail carry out essential improvement and engineering work across the rail network during this time as fewer people usually travel by train.
In addition, some train companies will be making changes to their timetable, and to some train times, to match services to the number of customers travelling.
If your clients are travelling during the bank holiday weekend, please check their journey before they travel to avoid any disappointments. You may find the Travel Summary useful, it contains lots of useful advice to help your clients be in the know before you go.
During the Early May weekend major engineering work will be taking place at the following locations:
• London Euston: lines to and from London Euston will be closed on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 May. Alternative ways of getting to and from central London will be available from the north west, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Watford. An amended service will operate on Saturday 3 May
• London Victoria: on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May no Southeastern services will call at London Victoria (trains will be diverted) and Southern will have a reduced service to and from London Victoria (Southern will also have some service amendments on Monday)
• Carlisle / Glasgow / Edinburgh: from Saturday 3 to Monday 5 May buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Glasgow via Lockerbie. On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Edinburgh, and between Carlisle and Dumfries

Description
A broken rail between London Paddington and Reading means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised. This is expected until the end of the day.

Amendments to Hull Trains timetables on Fridays and Saturdays in March and April. (Updated on 14th March 2025)

Between Hull and London Kings Cross
On Fridays and Saturdays in March and April, there will be minor alterations to Hull Trains timetables. 90% of the timetabled services are planned to operate as normal, but there will be temporary alterations affecting some early morning and late evening services between 7 March and 26 April. The services below will be cancelled, and all other services are currently planned to operate as normal.
Fridays:
• 07:27 from London Kings Cross to Hull.
• 19:09 from Hull to London Kings Cross.
Saturdays:
• 07:27 from London Kings Cross to Hull.
You are advised to check here before you travel.
Ticket information:
Ticket holders with ‘Hull Trains only’ tickets for the affected services can travel on any other Hull Trains service on the same date, or the day either side of the affected date, using existing tickets without having to change them. If your client's require a seat reservation for their journey, they can check with the staff locally at the train station.
If the alternative services are not suitable, they can obtain a full refund and you can contact us.

A fault with the signalling system between Crowborough and Uckfield means all lines are blocked. As a result, no trains can run between these stations.
Disruption is expected until approximately 10:00 today.
Customer advice:
Please allow an extra 30 minutes for your journey this morning as you will have to take an alternative route, or use rail replacement buses when sourced.
Services that usually run between London Bridge and Uckfield will run between London Bridge and Crowborough only.

Replacement buses:
Southern have requested buses from their suppliers, but haven't had confirmation of these yet.
Bus journeys will take longer than your usual train journey on this route.

Strike in the UK on Avanti (line London-Manchester-Glasgow) (Updated on 10th Feb)
Industrial action by the RMT union is expected to affect Avanti West Coast services on Sunday 9 February 2025.
If action goes ahead, Avanti West Coast will be running at reduced service levels. Passengers are advised to travel either side of Sunday 9 February’s strike action due to the limited service Avanti West Coast are able to run as a result.
Avanti West Coast have made arrangements for their customers to use tickets on alternative dates.

Avanti West Coast - Strike action on Sundays from 12 January to 25 May 2025 (Updated on 8th Jan)
The RMT union has announced strike action affecting Avanti West Coast on Sundays from 12 January to 25 May 2025. On these dates, Avanti’s timetables and operating hours will be significantly reduced and trains that do run are expected to be busy. Engineering work and football fixtures may also affect journeys across the rail network.
