Timetables in the United Kingdom may be revised following traffic disruptions. In case of disruptions, fewer services are operating and some routes are cancelled completely. You can find some details about those cancellations below.

There is a shortage of train crew available on some London Northwestern Railway routes today.
As a result of this, the following routes will be disrupted:
Bletchley - Bedford
Watford Junction - St Albans Abbey
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

To assist you with your client's journey, their ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost, on the following alternatives:
East Midlands Railway between London St Pancras International and Bedford

Rail replacement buses will operate in place of cancelled services.
Watford Junction - St Albans Abbey
To assist your client's with their journey, their ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost, on Arriva Buses 321.
Rail replacement transport is in operation between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey.

30th June 2025: No trains between Carlisle and Glasgow Central/Edinburgh
Avanti West Coast between London Euston / Birmingham New Street / Wolverhampton and Glasgow Central, and between London Euston / Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh.
TransPennine Express between Manchester Airport and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh, and between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central.
Description:
Damage to the overhead electric wires between Lockerbie and Carstairs means that all lines are blocked. Trains are unable to run between Carlisle and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh and will be cancelled or revised.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:
Avanti West Coast are advising customers NOT TO TRAVEL on the following routes:
- North of Carlisle
- Southbound from Edinburgh / Glasgow Central
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
If you no longer wish to travel because your train is delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.
Advice for TransPennine Express customers:
TransPennine Express are strongly advising customers NOT TO TRAVEL north of Carlisle. There are no trains running between Carlisle and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh in both directions and no replacement buses.
Trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central will run only between Liverpool Lime Street and Carlisle.
Trains between Manchester Airport and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh will run only between Manchester Airport and Carlisle.
You can use your ticket on board the following services at no extra cost:
- Avanti West Coast services between Carlisle and Preston (and between Scotland and Preston in both directions once the line reopens)
- ScotRail services between Glasgow stations and Edinburgh
- Northern services between Manchester Airport and Lancaster
You can also use your ticket to travel on the following services, however due to earlier disruption on these routes, these services are expected to be busy and may be delayed by up to 60 minutes: :
- TransPennine Express services between Edinburgh and Manchester via York
- LNER or CrossCountry services between Edinburgh and York
- LUMO services between Edinburgh and Newcastle
- Northern services between Carlisle and Newcastle
If you have purchased a ticket and your journey has been affected by this disruption, you can use your ticket dated today (30/06/2025)- to travel tomorrow (01/07/2025) at no extra cost. Alternatively, if the train you intended to travel on is cancelled or you are unable to complete your journey then you can apply for a refund from your point of purchase.

UK: Industrial action to affect CrossCountry services from Monday 9 June until Saturday 25 October (Updated on 07th June)
Industrial action has been announced by the RMT Union which will affect CrossCountry services from Monday 9 June until Saturday 25 October. Short-notice changes are expected to their timetable.
CrossCountry aim to run as many services as possible. However, restrictions on when RMT members can work will mean more cancellations than usual over this period.

Engineering work is taking place between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction, closing all lines.
No Southern trains will run between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.
Your client's should use alternative London Overground trains between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction. Or alternatively, Southern trains between Clapham Junction and London Victoria, London Underground between London Victoria and London Euston and London Northwestern Railway or London Overground trains between London Euston and Watford Junction.
National Rail ticket acceptance will be in place at no extra cost between:
• London Euston and Watford Junction (London Northwestern Railway)
Paper ticket acceptance will be in place at no extra cost on London Underground / Overground trains:

Major engineering work during the Early May bank holiday weekend. (Updated on 3rd May 2025)

Description
There are lots of planned essential engineering works and upgrades taking place during the Early May bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 3 May to Monday 5 May, as Network Rail works to improve the railway. Network Rail carry out essential improvement and engineering work across the rail network during this time as fewer people usually travel by train.
In addition, some train companies will be making changes to their timetable, and to some train times, to match services to the number of customers travelling.
If your clients are travelling during the bank holiday weekend, please check their journey before they travel to avoid any disappointments. You may find the Travel Summary useful, it contains lots of useful advice to help your clients be in the know before you go.
During the Early May weekend major engineering work will be taking place at the following locations:
• London Euston: lines to and from London Euston will be closed on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 May. Alternative ways of getting to and from central London will be available from the north west, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Watford. An amended service will operate on Saturday 3 May
• London Victoria: on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May no Southeastern services will call at London Victoria (trains will be diverted) and Southern will have a reduced service to and from London Victoria (Southern will also have some service amendments on Monday)
• Carlisle / Glasgow / Edinburgh: from Saturday 3 to Monday 5 May buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Glasgow via Lockerbie. On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Edinburgh, and between Carlisle and Dumfries

Description
A broken rail between London Paddington and Reading means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised. This is expected until the end of the day.
Elizabeth line Customer Advice:
Trains may start / terminate at Maidenhead, not serving Twyford and Reading.
Your client's can use their tickets at no extra cost on the following routes:
Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Reading
Great Western Railway Customer Advice:
Trains that run between Newbury and London Paddington will need to terminate at or start from Reading instead of London Paddington. This means your client's might need to change trains at Reading to complete their journey.
To help your client's complete their journey, they can use their tickets on Elizabeth line trains between Reading and London Paddington at no extra cost.

Amendments to Hull Trains timetables on Fridays and Saturdays in March and April. (Updated on 14th March 2025)

Between Hull and London Kings Cross
On Fridays and Saturdays in March and April, there will be minor alterations to Hull Trains timetables. 90% of the timetabled services are planned to operate as normal, but there will be temporary alterations affecting some early morning and late evening services between 7 March and 26 April. The services below will be cancelled, and all other services are currently planned to operate as normal.
Fridays:
• 07:27 from London Kings Cross to Hull.
• 19:09 from Hull to London Kings Cross.
Saturdays:
• 07:27 from London Kings Cross to Hull.
You are advised to check here before you travel.
Ticket information:
Ticket holders with ‘Hull Trains only’ tickets for the affected services can travel on any other Hull Trains service on the same date, or the day either side of the affected date, using existing tickets without having to change them. If your client's require a seat reservation for their journey, they can check with the staff locally at the train station.
If the alternative services are not suitable, they can obtain a full refund and you can contact us.

No trains between Crowborough and Uckfield until approximately 10:00 on 26th February 2025 (Updated on 26th Feb)
A fault with the signalling system between Crowborough and Uckfield means all lines are blocked. As a result, no trains can run between these stations.
Disruption is expected until approximately 10:00 today.
Customer advice:
Please allow an extra 30 minutes for your journey this morning as you will have to take an alternative route, or use rail replacement buses when sourced.
Services that usually run between London Bridge and Uckfield will run between London Bridge and Crowborough only.

Southeastern between Tonbridge / Tunbridge Wells and London
London Underground via any reasonable route
Alternative Southern services between Tonbridge / East Grinstead / Haywards Heath and London

Replacement buses:
Southern have requested buses from their suppliers, but haven't had confirmation of these yet.
Bus journeys will take longer than your usual train journey on this route.

Strike in the UK on Avanti (line London-Manchester-Glasgow) (Updated on 10th Feb)
Industrial action by the RMT union is expected to affect Avanti West Coast services on Sunday 9 February 2025.
If action goes ahead, Avanti West Coast will be running at reduced service levels. Passengers are advised to travel either side of Sunday 9 February’s strike action due to the limited service Avanti West Coast are able to run as a result.
Avanti West Coast have made arrangements for their customers to use tickets on alternative dates.

A points failure at Birmingham New Street means fewer trains are able to run on some lines. As a result, trains running through this station may be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes.
Avanti West Coast - Strike action on Sundays from 12 January to 25 May 2025 (Updated on 8th Jan)
The RMT union has announced strike action affecting Avanti West Coast on Sundays from 12 January to 25 May 2025. On these dates, Avanti’s timetables and operating hours will be significantly reduced and trains that do run are expected to be busy. Engineering work and football fixtures may also affect journeys across the rail network.
