Spain: delays & disruptions

Timetables in Spain may be revised following traffic disruptions. In case of disruptions, fewer services are operating and some routes are cancelled completely. You can find some details about those cancellations below.

Renfe: Renfe has scheduled more than 11,500 road services to ensure mobility during the renovation works on the Xàtiva-Alcoi line from March 24, 2025 to December 23, 2026. (Updated on 5th April 2025).

  • The infrastructure works will improve the reliability, capacity, and travel time of the Medium Distance services.
  • Buses and minibuses will provide service to users of the Valencia-Xativa-Alcoi corridor (between Xativa and Alcoi) during the works that Adif will carry out on the infrastructure.
  • The alternative plan will involve schedule modifications and changes in travel times, as well as the modification of some bus stops that will not coincide with the station stop.
  • Renfe has scheduled more than 11,500 road services to cover conventional medium-distance services and ensure mobility during the renovation works on the Xàtiva-Alcoi line. The works will begin on March 24. These infrastructure works will improve the reliability, capacity, and travel times of the line's medium-distance services.

The works that Adif will carry out on the railway infrastructure, which will involve the complete renovation of the line, will require the interruption of train service on the section between Xàtiva and Alcoi. In response to this closure, Renfe has designed an alternative road transport plan between the two towns, with the same bus stops as the affected trains. More than 11,500 road services are planned, including 126 bus services each week, operated by buses and minibuses. The journey between València Nord and Xàtiva will be by train in both directions.

The company will maintain all medium-distance services along the corridor, serving the various municipalities along the route. This weekly service is offered with an alternative schedule of 126 buses (between Xàtiva and Alcoi) and 27 trains that will travel between València Nord and Xàtiva.

The alternative plan will involve modifications to the usual Renfe service schedules and changes to travel times. Similarly, while in some municipalities the bus departure and arrival points will be the train station, in other towns, other stops have been established that are more convenient for buses and optimize the service offered to passengers.

The stations where the bus stop does not coincide with the station stop are: Concentaina, Agrés, Ontinyent, Agullent, Montaverner, Pobla del Duc, and Genovés. However, buses will stop at the stations in the towns of Alcoi, Albaida, Bufalí, Beniganim, and Xàtiva.

Renfe: Alternative road plan between Soria and Madrid due to Adif infrastructure works from April 1 to December 15, 2025 (Updated on 5th April 2025).

Renfe has designed an Alternative Transport Plan (ATP) for road transport to ensure mobility between Soria and Madrid due to the infrastructure works that Adif will carry out between April 1 and December 15, 2025.

The infrastructure adaptation works for the railway highway between Algeciras and Zaragoza, which Adif will carry out between April 1 and December 15, will require the interruption of train service between Guadalajara and Plasencia de Jalón.

This closure affects Renfe's Medium Distance services between Soria and Madrid, which cannot be operated by train due to the closure of the track between Guadalajara and Torralba. To guarantee passenger transport during the construction work, Renfe is providing its entire service by road between the stations of El Cañuelo, in Soria, and Chamartín, in Madrid.

There are direct Soria-Madrid buses between both stations and other vehicles serving all the municipalities along the route. Semi-direct buses are also added to the busiest routes.

Furthermore, the plan, carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and the Soria City Council, provides for the reinforcement of the regular semi-direct bus services Soria-Madrid and Madrid-Soria.

Travel times have been modified, and alternative stops to train stations have been established in various municipalities to optimize service.

    • Between Soria and Madrid: the entire bus route stops at all stations along the route, with direct Soria-Madrid services.
    • Between Almazán and Guadalajara: bus route with a stop in Sigüenza and connection to the Cercanías service in Guadalajara.
    • Between Baides and Sigüenza: shuttle vehicle to connect with buses.
    • Between Alcalá de Henares and Guadalajara: Commuter trains to connect with buses .

Municipalities with an alternative stop to the train station during the PAT:

    • Quintana Redonda : in front of the Town Hall.
    • Tardelcuende: in front of the Town Hall.
    • Torralba del Moral: SO-P-4409 road. Church District, 13. Entrance to the Nuestra Señora de la Luz residence.

All services on the conventional medium-distance line in the Zaragoza-Teruel-Sagunto corridor and those on the Valencia commuter line C5 in the Sagunto-Caudiel section are affected. The various services will be provided by road:
