Switzerland: delays & disruptions

Engineering works, delays or strikes are happening in Switzerland. Major disruptions are listed below. You can check the status of a train on Lyria or SBB website and with traffic forecast tool.

Engadin Ski Marathon (08 March 2026)

Due to the Engadin Ski Marathon, the track between Samedan and Pontresina will be closed to Bernina Express trains 951, 970 and 972 on Sunday, 8 March 2026. Replacement buses are operating on the aforementioned section of the route. Bernina Express trains 952, 975 and 977 are not affected by the line closure and can therefore run according to schedule.

Diversion via Vereina (21–22 March 2026)

Due to construction work at Chur West station, rail traffic will be suspended on Saturday, 21 March and Sunday, 22 March 2026. The Bernina Express will therefore not run through the Albula Valley, but will be diverted via Vereina (Chur – Landquart – Klosters – Vereina Tunnel – Sagliains – Pontresina).

Limited service on 7th June: Genève - Lyon Part Dieu and Grenoble. (Updated on 7th June 2025)

Limited train service between Genève and Lyon Part Dieu as well as Genève and Grenoble.

This is due to an incident in France. The restriction lasts at least until 12:00. Line TER is affected. Allow for delays, cancellations and diversions. Passengers travelling between Genève-Aéroport, Genève and Bellegarde-sur-Valserine will travel via Annemasse. Passengers travelling between Genève and Lyon Part Dieu, Grenoble, Valence will travel via Annecy.

Glacier Express : Route Interruption Glacier Express 26.03.2025 / Streckenunterbruch Glacier Express 26.03.2025 

Due to a rockfall, rail service on the affected line is partially disrupted, and Glacier Express trains are not operating between Chur and Zermatt.

Passengers traveling on the Glacier Express towards St. Moritz may use SBB trains between Brig and Chur via Bern and Zurich. Additionally, replacement buses and an extra train from Täsch are available for travel between Zermatt and Brig.

For passengers traveling on the Glacier Express towards Zermatt, alternative routes are available. Travel between Chur and Brig can be made on SBB trains via Zurich and Bern. From Brig, an extra train is operating to Täsch, followed by replacement bus services to Zermatt.
