Strikes are taking place in Belgium. Major disruptions are listed below. You can also check the status of a train online using SNCB's departure board.

Current disruptions

Strike in Belgium from Sunday 16 March 22H00 until Monday 17 March 22h00

A strike has been announced by part of the NMBS/SNCB staff, from Sunday 16 March 2025, at 22H00 to Monday 17 March 2025, at 22H00. The impact of this strike on international traffic is not yet known.

The list of trains that will run for cross-border traffic will be published at the earliest 48 hours and at the latest 24 hours before the start of the strike.

In case of delay, cancellation, or disruption of your client's train journey, please remember that EU passenger rights always apply (see below for more information).

Modifications or cancellations of the impacted DNR can be done in all booking systems.

However, if the system calculates a fee that shouldn't be charged, do not confirm the cancellation or modification but contact us for more information.

Nightjet

The following Nightjets will NOT operate between Cologne and Brussels and back.

• NJ 40468/40424 - Departure 16 March Wien Hbf 18H13 - Brussels-Midi • NJ 40425 - Departure 17 March Brussels-Midi 19H06 - Wien Hbf

Passengers of NJ 40468/40424 can transfer in Cologne to ICE 18* towards Brussels.

• Arrival with NJ in Cologne Hbf at 6H59 • Departure in Cologne Hbf at 7H42 with ICE 18* • Arrival in Brussels-Midi at 9H35

Passengers for NJ 40425 can use ICE 19* in Brussels towards Cologne, where they have a connection to the Nightjet.

• Departure in Brussels-Midi at 18H25 with ICE 19* • Arrival in Cologne Hbf at 20H15 • Departure in Cologne at 22H01 with NJ 40425

*on the ICE-trains there is no seat reservation included.

In case of any delay of the international connection, the European rights of rail passengers are applicable.

If it appears before the departure that the delay affecting arrival at the final destination is expected to be over 60 minutes (compared to the predicted time on the ticket), your client is entitled to choose among the following dispositions:

•a) Refund of the ticket:

Your client may obtain a full refund of the price paid for their ticket for the uncompleted section of the journey, but also for the completed section of their journey if the trip is no longer worthwhile in the context of the traveller’s original travel plan. When relevant, the traveller who has faced disruption to their journey will also be transported back to their initial departure point at the earliest opportunity. dispositions:

•b) completion of the journey at the earliest opportunity

Your client can complete their journey at the earliest opportunity via another route, under similar travelling conditions, to their final destination.

•c) completion of the journey at a later date

Your client can complete their journey at a later date at their own convenience via another route, under similar travelling conditions, to their final destination.

Please note, that in case your client is not able to board their international train due to a delay or a strike of the Belgian domestic train service, the European rights of rail are NOT applicable.

A strike has been announced by part of the NMBS/SNCB staff, from Friday 21 February 2025, at 22H00 to Sunday 2 March 2025, at 22H00. The impact of this strike on international traffic is not yet known.

The list of trains that will run for cross-border traffic will be published by the managing railways at the earliest 48 hours and at the latest 24 hours before the start of the strike.

- used flexibly for travel between Friday 21 February to Monday 3 March 2025 (without train restrictions).

- fully refunded.

An alternative timetable will be worked out. But this will vary from day to day depending on available equipment and staff.

EuroCity

Tickets for travel dates between Saturday 22 February and Sunday 2 March can be:

- used flexibly for travel between Friday 21 February to Monday 3 March 2025 (without train restrictions).

- fully refunded.

ICE

Customers with tickets for a cancelled train can use their ticket at a later moment.

The ticket is valid for travel to the original destination even if the route is changed.

Seat reservations can be canceled free of charge.

For trains requiring a reservation, a new reservation must be made. This new reservation is free of charge and issued locally at the train station based on availability.

In case of a cancelled train or a delay of more than 60 minutes at the destination station, you can cancel your client's journey and get the ticket refunded.
