I. Routes and Travel Times

NTV’s Italo trains serve the main Italian cities: Milano, Bologna, Firenze, Roma, Napoli, Salerno, Venezia, Torino and Padova. Italo trains run on high speed lines and offer competitive travel times.

Please note that Italo stops in Roma Tiburtina and Roma Termini, Milano Centrale and Milano Rogoredo:

  • Milano Rogoredo: located close to Linate airport (7km/10min by taxi), connected to the Metro (“Rogoredo” station).
  • Roma Termini: Gateway to the center of Roma. Connected to subway lines A and B via Termini Metro Station.
  • Roma Tiburtina: Located close to Roma Termini station (3.5km/8min by taxi). This is a brand new station for high speed trains only. It is also connected to the Metro (“Tiburtina station”).

Food & Drink

Welcome Service

  • For breakfast, on the Rome-Milan No Stop trains departing before 10 am, in the Club-Executive and Prima ambiences the welcome service is offered for breakfast with fresh croissants and espresso coffee.
  • During the day, in Club-Executive and Prima ambiences, on the departure of the train, it is offered a welcome service with a wide selection of sweet and savorysnacks. To accompany them, travelers can choose from the many cold or hot drinks available.

Catering Service

  • Club-Executive has a dedicated catering service during the breakfast and dinner time which is added to the welcome service available all day.
  • For breakfast we have a choice of fresh baked croissants every morning.
  • During lunch and dinner hours we offer gourmet sandwiches with high quality ingredients. In the same time slots it is possible to accompany meals with prosecco or beer in addition to other beverages available. And finally we’ll offer you the pleasure of a freshly made espresso.

No specific conditions. This fare books all of the seats in a Salotto compartment. Available in Club Executive only.

Economy

No specific conditions. Discounted fare, subject to availability. Available in Club Executive, Prima and Smart

Low cost

Non refundable, subject to availability. Available in in Prima and Smart

Famiglia

For 2 to 4 passengers travelling together, with at least 1 passenger over 18 years of age. Children under 14 years of age travel free of charge with their family. Adults can purchase a Flex ticket.
Available in Prima and Smart
  • Child (age 3–13) benefit from a discounted fare in Flex, Salotto Flexi, and Economy. No discounts on Low-Cost, Famiglia, or Promo Fares
  • Children under 3 years old: One infant free per adult. Additional infants MUST purchase a child fare.
  • Children between 0 and 13 inclusive must be accompanied by an adult when travelling.
  • Senior age from 60 years

Ticketing information

  • No ticket but a booking summary with all details
  • The booking summary will be received by email.
  • Passengers simply board the train and quote or show the PNR to the conductor, except when boarding in Rome, Florence and Milan, printed documentation is required. (See below "check-in procedure" for more details).

VI. Exchange / Refund

  • Exchange and Refund policies vary depending on the type of fare purchased.
  • Special cancelation fees apply to some fares.
  • In case of missed connection with another train company or an airline company: no refund will be possible.

VII. Check-in procedures

  • Clients departing from Rome (Roma Termini), Milan (Milano Centrale) and Florence (Firenze SMN) must provide printed documentation. Rail Europe can provide the requested printed tickets. You can contact us to request the same. Travelers can also visit Casa Italo prior to boarding to have a copy of their ticket printed by Italo staff. 
  • It is required to show security a copy of the ticket, prior boarding at these stations.
  • Except for the stations mentioned above, there are no check-in or customs procedures before boarding Italo‘s trains. Ticket control and ID checks can occur randomly on board.

VIII. Specific to this train

ItaloClub lounge

  • Available for Club Executive ticket holders (included in the price of the ticket), whereas a fee is due for those travelling in Prima.
  • Services available: Complimentary WiFi, newspapers, magazines, TV, hot/cold drinks, and snacks.

Casa Italo

  • Travellers on Italo will not be able to use Trenitalia‘s ticket counters and will have to go to the “Casa Italo”.
  • Casa Italo is a Service Center open to all travellers, available in every station served by Italo, offering information and assistance (English spoken).
  • There is a welcoming area with sofas and comfortable seating, free WI-FI, tables and electric sockets.
  • Touch screens provide the latest news on Italo as well as Italo departure and arrival times.

Fast Track

  • Fast Track is a dedicated access lane to help travellers board their Italo train faster.
  • Available to Club Executive or Prima ticket holders
  • Available at Roma Termini and Milano Centrale

Luggage policy

  • Luggage must be properly stored beneath the seat, in the overhead racks, or in the large luggage racks
  • There is limited availability in the luggage racks
  • Strollers/prams and collapsible bicycles must be collapsed
  • IMPORTANT: For journeys in Smart ambience, no luggage measuring over 75x53x30cm is allowed. Travellers with luggage exceeding these dimensions will be fined 10 Euros and be asked to get off the train at the next stop. Comfort, Prima, and Club Executive ambiences are not affected

Animal policy

  • Traveller can carry on board small pets, not exceeding 10 kgs (1 animal per passenger allowed). Animals must be carried in proper pet carry cage.
  • Animals must have a microchip and a valid passport registration (CE n.998/2003). For dog transportation, traveller must have a dog registry certificate.
  • Traveller is responsible in case of damage to goods or people caused by his pet (dangerous or ill animals are not allowed on board).

Assistance services for travellers with wheelchair/disabled people

  • 2 seats for travellers with wheelchair are available in coach n°8, in Smart ambience.
  • Assistance (when getting on/off the train) must be requested at least 7 days before train departure, by calling directly NTV Contact Center Pronto Italo. Within 7 days before train departure, passenger must contact NTV by email at: nov@ntvspa.it
  • Traveller must be at the meeting point at the station at least 30 minutes before train departure time.
  • Pronto Italo Contact Center is open 7/7 days from 5am-12pm, Tel: (+39) 06 07 08 (English spoken), call charged as an international phone call from abroad, and simply charged as a regular phone call within Italy.
  • Guide dogs for partially-sighted or blind travellers can travel for free on Italo without any restrictions on their size or weight.
