Frecciarossa

  • Frecciarossa trains connect Turin-Milan-Reggio Emilia AV-Bologna-Florence-Rome-Naples-Salerno and Venice-Padua-Bologna-Florence-Rome-Naples-Salerno on the high speed line.
  • Other main connection: Trieste/Udine-Venice- Padua-Vicenza-Verona-Brescia-Milan
  • Frecciarossa trains can reach the speed up to 300 km/h. Frecciarossa 1000 is the fastest one and can reach a maximum of 400 km/h.

  • The Frecciargento trains connect Rome to Venice, Verona, Bari/Lecce, Brescia/Bolzano, Lamezia Terme/ReggioCalabria and from/to Firenze to Lecce. The trains are designed to offer the best level of comfort.

Frecciarossa trains run on high-speed lines with exclusive WiFi, online entertainment portal and 4 classes of service.

    Ticketless (you receive a confirmation by email, no need to print it but you must give the reference and a proof of ID to the Train Manager. However if you do need to exchange your ticket locally you will need this email confirmation printed). Passenger’s name must match the passport.

    • Please note: specific trains (not Frecce) Leonardo express is non refundable, and only exchangeable once locally at the station & before departure. Also, Trenord trains aftersales must be done directly to the operator Trenord through rimborsi@trenord.it

    VII. Check-in procedures

    • There are no check-in or customs procedures before boarding Frecciarossa trains however we recommend to arrive in advance at the station.
    • Since November 1, 2023: a new codebar has been implemented on regional tickets. Please note all Trenitalia booking will receive a reminder email asking client to make a check-in, however it is ONLY compulsory on regional trains. Further information can be found under Miscelleneous here.
    • Ticket control and passport checks will occur on board the train.
    • Train coach doors will close 1 minute prior to departure for all Trenitalia domestic long-haul trains (Frecciarossa, Frecciargento, Frecciabianca, IC, and ICNight). Access to the train is allowed until that time and no later.

    Connections to the airports

    • From Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" airport to Roma: Leonardo express is the NON-STOP shuttle service between Fiumicino airport and Roma Termini station. This service is guaranteed also in the event of a strike (if necessary, the trains will be replaced by buses).
    • Ciampino Airport is Rome’s second airport terminal. A new combined train + bus service, connecting between Roma Termini and Ciampino station by train, from there the bus awaits you to take you to Ciampino Airport.
    • Milano Malpensa airport: daily connections to Malpensa airport with Frecciarossa trains.
    • Pisa airport "Galileo Galilei": connection between Pisa Centrale station and Pisa Airport by shuttle trains.
    • Punta Raisi "Falcone - Borsellino" airport: Trinacria express connection between Palermo Centrale station and Punta Raisi Falcone-Borsellino airport.
    • Trieste Airport: daily connection between Venezia and Trieste Airport station.
    • Cagliari Elmas Airport: easily accessible by train from Cagliari and all major Sardinian cities. Direct connection from Elmas Airport train station with the airport with a indoor walkway served by moving pavements. All trains stop at Elmas Airport, with a service every about 20 minutes active every day of the week.
    • Lamezia Terme Aeroporto: combined train + bus service, connection between Roma Termini to Lamezia Terme Central train station, from there a bus will take you to Lamezia Terme Airport.
