Eurail (or Interrail) Pass booked? Let's get those seat reservations!

      Once you’ve secured a Eurail (or Interrail) Pass, you’ll need to book seat reservations on the trains that require them. High-speed, international, and scenic routes often need reservations—available for a discounted rail pass-only rate, of course! No need to wait until the travel period begins: start reserving as soon as the pass has been purchased!

      The following providers require seat reservations:

      - Eurostar

      - French Intercity trains

      - International TGVs

      - TGV INOUI trains

      - TGV Lyria

      - Swiss panoramic trains

      - Trenitalia

      - Renfe

      START BOOKING

      Start your search.

      Enter arrival and departure cities, travel date and time and passenger types. Make sure you select Already have a Pass!

      Select your rail pass.
      *The same pass applies to all passengers

      Check out available trains.

      On the results page, you’ll see which trains require seat reservations and which don’t. Note that some journeys may not be covered by rail passes and may require a full fare ticket.

      Choose your fare & class.

      Select your desired fare and travel class to view the conditions. Add the ticket to your cart when you’re ready!

      Add more journeys or proceed to payment.

      Once the ticket has been added, you can either add additional products or go directly to your cart.

      Review your trip summary.

      n your cart, you’ll find a summary of all products added. You can add or remove products as needed. Once everything looks good, select Continue to traveller details.

      Enter traveller details.

      The booking has now been created. Enter each traveller’s full name, exactly as it appears on their passport, along with their Mobile Pass number. You cannot modify this information later.

      Confirm travel agent contact info.

      Add your agency’s contact details. These are used for both booking and ticketing purposes.

      Final review & proceed to payment.

      Double check your order. Click Continue to hold and payment.

      Choose to hold or pay now.

      Double check your order. Click Continue to hold and payment.


      • a. Hold:

      You can place a temporary hold on the booking. The hold duration will be clearly indicated.

      • b. Pay Now:

      Proceed directly to payment. You can pay using allowance or a credit card (if one is linked to your account).

      Finalize and get booking

      Once payment has been completed, booking status will show as Invoiced. Download the tickets and create & send your confirmation email!

      AFTERSALES



      Manage refunds & exchanges

      Accessing your booking.

      Go to My Bookings and select Aftersales. Choose Refund to begin the process.

      Request a refund quote.

      Select the product(s) and the passenger(s) that you wish to refund. Submit your request for a refund quote.

      Review & confirm.

      Once the quote had been generated, review the details carefully. You can decide to either cancel or proceed with the refund. Please note that seat reservations for Eurostar can only be exchanged, not refunded.

      TICKET STATUS TERMS


      Once you've entered your search criteria on RailPortal, the results page will show whether seat reservations are required and whether the Eurail (or Interrail) Pass covers each journey.

      Here’s how to interpret the different status messages:

                 "Seat reservation required" The train accepts the Eurail Pass, but a seat reservation is mandatory. You can book it directly through RailPortal.

                 "Pass does not apply" The Eurail Pass is not valid for this journey. A full-fare ticket must be purchased.

                 "No seat reservation required" The train accepts the Eurail Pass, and no reservation is needed. Travellers can hop on and hop off.

                 "Seat reservation available at station" The train accepts the pass, but the seat reservation has to be purchased locally (at the station).

                 "Need to split the journey" The route includes segments with different fare categories or reservation requirements. You’ll need to book each segment separately.
