TGV INOUI:  France Italy Works in 2026

Service interruption between Paris and Milan from 14 September to 13 October 2026

The year 2026 will be marked by several interruptions and adjustments to the transport plan on the

Paris Milan line, due to infrastructure works carried out in Italy and in the Maurienne area. Below are the key points to help anticipate the impacts on train services and passengers

Service interruption between Turin and Modane – First half of 2026

Several weekends in the first half of 2026 will be affected by a complete interruption of traffic between Turin and Modane, due to works scheduled by RFI (the Italian infrastructure manager).

Affected weekends:
21–22 March 2026
11–12 April 2026
18–19 April 2026
15–17 May 2026 (long weekend)
6–7 June 2026

During these periods, no trains will operate on the Paris Milan line. Passengers will need to postpone their trips to dates that are not affected.

Important note: RFI may modify or cancel its work at any time, which could lead to last‑minute adjustments to the transport plan.

Reduced service plan

Affected periods :
From 26 May to 12 June 2026 : 2 round trips per day instead of 3
From 15 June to 17 July 2026 : 1 round trip per day instead of 3

These adjustments aim to respond to operational constraints linked to the work and reduced capacity on the line.

Trenitalia: Guaranteed minimum services in the event of a strike

On strike days, Trenitalia ensures minimum transport services, listed below, deemed suitable by the Guarantee Commission for the implementation of Law 146/1990.

Trains that are on their way after the strike has started will still arrive at their final destination if it can be reached within an hour of the start of the industrial action; After this period, trains can stop at stations prior to their final destination.

TGV Lyria engineering works in 2026

Paris<>Zurich

Due to engineering works on the Paris–Zurich line, the TGV Lyria service will be amended from 1 February to 29 March 2026. Selected trains may:

• Depart from or terminate at Basel SBB without stopping at Zurich HB
• Be diverted via Strasbourg
• Not run

Paris<>Basel

Due to engineering works near Basel SBB, until early 2027 selected TGV Lyria trains will operate on this route with amended timetables. This means altered stops, longer journey times as well as earlier or later departures and arrivals at Basel SBB and Zurich HB. But don’t worry, when you book your tickets, it’s the amended times that will be displayed.

Services will be suspended on the following weekends: 28 February–1 March 2026 and 25–26 April 2026. During these periods, no TGV Lyria or high-speed services will operate on the route. We recommend that you travel on another date, if possible.

Paris<>Lausanne

Due to engineering works between Geneva and La Plaine, TGV Lyria Paris ↔ Lausanne via Geneva services will continue to operate on the Paris ↔ Geneva line, but will not stop at Lausanne.

Customers travelling to or departing from Lausanne should take a TGV Lyria Paris ↔ Geneva service, then continue their journey with a SBB Geneva ↔ Lausanne service.

Iryo - Operational Information

In relation to the  Madrid-Barcelona line, the Alternative Transport Plan (PAT) currently in force, which involves an approximate increase of 25 minutes in travel times and the adaptation of the commercial offer, is expected to be maintained throughout the year. 

In the  Southern Corridor (Seville, Malaga and Cordoba) the reactivation of services is scheduled for Thursday, February 12. 

 You can check for the minimum services of the strike on February 9, 10 and 11.

High-speed, Intercity, and Regional trains may be subject to route restrictions and cancellations. 

Intercity trains scheduled for February 8th are subject to changes: 

•  ICN 795 Turin Porta Nuova (2.20pm) - Reggio Calabria Centrale (8.45am) : the train today is routed on the alternative route between Pisa and Rome via Florence and does not stop at Livorno Centrale, Grosseto, Civitavecchia, and Rome Ostiense. The train today stops at Rome Tiburtina.
•   ICN 799 Turin Porta Nuova (7:35 PM) - Salerno (9:11 AM) : the train is routed on the alternative route between Pisa and Rome via Florence and does not stop at Livorno Centrale, Grosseto, Civitavecchia, and Rome Ostiense.
  The train stops at Rome Tiburtina.
•   ICN 796 Salerno (8:52 PM) - Turin Porta Nuova (8:42 AM) : the train is rerouted on the alternative route between Rome and Pisa via Florence and does not stop at Rome Ostiense, Civitavecchia, Grosseto, and Livorno Centrale. The train stops at Rome Termini and Rome Tiburtina.
•   ICN 794 Reggio Calabria Centrale (9:43 PM) - Torino Porta Nuova (3:25 PM) : the train is routed on the alternative route between Rome and Pisa via Florence and does not stop at Rome Ostiense, Civitavecchia, Grosseto, and Livorno Centrale. The train stops at Rome Tiburtina.

High-speed and Intercity trains scheduled for February 9th are subject to changes:

•   FB 8601 Genova Brignole (5:14) - Roma Termini (10:03) : the train is rerouted on the alternative route between Pisa and Rome via Florence. The train does not stop at Livorno Centrale, Campiglia Marittima, Grosseto, and Civitavecchia.

  FB 8605 Genova Piazza Principe (6:50) - Roma Termini (12:18) : the train departs from Genova Brignole and is routed on the alternative route between Pisa and Rome via Florence. The train does not stop at Livorno Centrale, Campiglia Marittima, Grosseto and Civitavecchia.

Passengers:
• departing from Genova Piazza Principe, Chiavari, Massa Centro and Viareggio can use the train  FA 8551 Genova Piazza Principe (7:05) - Roma Termini (11:36) ;
• heading to Livorno Centrale, Campiglia Marittima, Grosseto and Civitavecchia can continue their journey from Pisa Centrale, supervised by Trenitalia Customer Service staff.

•  FR 8606 Rome Termini (6:57) - Genoa Piazza Principe (12:09) : the train is rerouted on the alternative route between Rome and Pisa via Florence. The train does not stop at Civitavecchia, Grosseto, Campiglia Marittima, Cecina, and Livorno Centrale.
•  IC 501 Sestri Levante (5:05) - Napoli Centrale (12:34) : the train is routed on the alternative route between Pisa and Rome via Florence and does not stop at Livorno Centrale, Grosseto, Civitavecchia, and Roma Ostiense. The train stops at Roma Tiburtina.

Iryo: Información Operativa Corredor Barcelona:

We want to inform you of the operational updates affecting iryo services in the coming days, to facilitate your handling of affected travelers

In relation to the   Madrid-Barcelona Corridor , as as a consequence of  Temporary Speed Limitations in different As announced by the infrastructure manager (ADIF), journeys between Madrid and Barcelona may experience delays beyond the operator's control. Therefore, for tickets purchased after January 28, 2026, standard delay compensation policies will not apply.

Additionally, starting February 5th, an   Alternative Transportation Plan (PAT) will be implemented in Coordination with ADIF is necessary due to maintenance work on the Madrid-Barcelona Corridor infrastructure. This plan involves timetable adjustments, with an estimated increase of  25 minutes in travel times , as well as the Temporary cancellation of two services (16:37 from Madrid and 8:45 from Barcelona). These adjustments are already published on our website and sales channels, reflecting the new travel times. Affected passengers are being rebooked on other trains or can request a  full refund . The measures will be in effect until  February 7th . at this time, and the information will be updated based on the progress of the work.

Cancellation of last trains of the day between Madrid-Barcelona-Madrid.

Due to nighttime work on the infrastructure, it is necessary to suspend service. of the last trains on the Madrid–Barcelona and Barcelona–Madrid routes in order to guarantee the maintenance bandwidth hours necessary for carrying out conservation work and improvement.

For this reason, the following measures have been taken:

• AVE trains 3203 and AVE 2883 will not run between Madrid and Barcelona stations intermediate.
• The AVE 3212 train will not run between Barcelona and Madrid and intermediate stations. 
• The AVE 3610 train, scheduled from 15/02/2025 for Fridays and Sundays.
•  The sale of tickets for cancelled trains has been blocked until 14/10/2026.
•  Automatic relocations have been carried out, currently from 2/02/2026 until 11/02/2026. The relocations will be carried out progressively for the rest of the affected dates.
•  Passengers on AVE trains 3203 and AVE 2883 are relocated to AVE 3309. 
•  Passengers on AVE trains 3212 and 3610 are relocated to AVE train 3310

No trains to/from Manchester Piccadilly 14-22 February

From 14 to 22 February, the line between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport is closed for major improvement work. Replacement buses will run between these stations, meaning journeys between Manchester and London will take longer. Avanti West Coast will be running two trains per hour to/from London Euston (one via Wilmslow and Crewe, one via Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent). The mornings of Sunday 1 and 22 March are also affected, with replacement buses again in place until 12:30.

Other routes, including via nearby Warrington and Wigan, are running to and from London normally on these dates.

Other train operators running in and around Manchester may also be affected by this planned upgrade work.

Planned weekend engineering work between Peterborough and London Kings Cross; between Saturday 31 January and Sunday 22 February

Further planned engineering work as part of the East Coast Digital Programme is taking place between Peterborough and London Kings Cross over multiple weekends between Saturday 31 January and Sunday 22 February. Work is taking place on the following dates:

• Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February
• Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February
• Sunday 15 February (*work is not planned for Saturday 14 February)
• Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February

On the affected dates, there will be no direct LNER trains to or from London Kings Cross.

LNER trains will start and terminate at Peterborough, where rail replacement coaches will operate to and from Bedford for onward connections with Thameslink to London St Pancras. To view a map, please click here.

Travelling to London from Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland:

Southbound LNER trains will terminate at Peterborough and connect with rail replacement coaches to Bedford [journey time approximately 60 minutes]. From Bedford, there are frequent Thameslink services to London St Pancras [journey time approximately 60 minutes].

Travelling from London to Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland:

Please use Thameslink services between London St Pancras and Bedford [journey time approximately 60 minutes]. Rail replacement coaches will operate between Bedford and Peterborough, for onward LNER connections to York, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness.

Other routes to alternative London stations:

During these engineering works, other routes to alternative London stations are generally much busier than usual, especially trains to London St Pancras via Sheffield and Nottingham with East Midlands Railway. Please avoid travelling via Sheffield, Derby or Chesterfield if possible due to extremely high passenger numbers on this route.

From Monday 29 December to Friday 2 January, a reduced and amended service will run to/from London Waterloo. Trains on some routes may also be revised to start / terminate at alternative stations, and they may stop at fewer or different stations to normal. All changes are shown in the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner.

From Saturday 27 December to Friday 2 January, no trains will call at Queenstown Road (Battersea). You should use other local stations to start / finish your journey.

On Saturday 3 January, a reduced and amended service will run between Barnes and Clapham Junction. Some trains will be amended to start / terminate at Woking / Basingstoke / Clapham Junction instead of at London Waterloo.

On Sunday 4 January, buses will replace trains between Barnes and Clapham Junction.

Iryo: Resumption of the Seville Corridor

From 17 February, Iryo will reactivate services to or from Seville and Cordoba, coinciding with the reopening date communicated by ADIF.

Operations are restored with 14 daily circulations (7 in each direction), including the recovery of the Barcelona-Seville transversal services, which directly connect both destinations again.

Renfe: Temporary Speed Restrictions & Delay Policy

Due to temporary speed restrictions imposed by the infrastructure manager (Adif), train delays beyond Renfe’s control may occur. Tickets purchased from 31 January 2026 onwards will not be eligible for compensation if delays are caused by these restrictions. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Temporary food entry restrictions in Great Britain

UK has introduced temporary restrictions on milk, dairy products, and certain meats from the EU. This is to prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease following a rising number of cases across mainland Europe.

Travellers can no longer bring the following meats and animal products from the EU into Great Britain for personal use:

• Pork
• Beef
• Lamb and mutton
• Goat meat
• Venison
• Other products made from these meats, like sausages
• Milk and dairy products

This also includes items like sandwiches, cheese, cured meat or raw meats.

Please ensure you don’t take any of these products with you on your journey to London.

Some exceptions apply to infant food and special food needed for medical reasons.

Breaking news - SNCF offline group bookings!

SNCF informed us shortly before Christmas of an immediate change to their group booking processes: their offline group booking system has been discontinued until further notice. As a result, from 1 January 2026, all SNCF accredited travel agencies, including Rail Europe, no longer have access to the PNRs that were previously booked offline until 31 December 2025 for travel in 2026. Due to expected adverse weather conditions, the traffic is suspended in the Netherlands today. We strongly advise all our passengers to postpone their journey to a different date.
